Newark and District Wildfowlers was founded 1n 1964, originally under the name of Newark Gun Club. The name was quickly changed to the current title to more accurately represent the main activities of the Club which was, at that time, Coastal Wildfowling. The clubs meetings were originally held at a Public House in Newark, hence the Newark connection.

The main aim of the club has remained unaltered To provide affordable, safe sport for the varied demands of an expanding membership whilst, wherever possible, enhancing the habitat for both quarry and non-quarry species.
